How much does a TV subscription cost in Belgium?

Real prices for Belgian TV subscriptions: standalone TV, post-promotion bundles and the three-year cost, operator by operator, surveyed in August.

ByVincent H.8 min read

A TV subscription in Belgium costs between 9.90 EUR and 90.99 EUR a month. The gap comes down to two variables: standalone TV or a bundle, and promotional price or full price. Here are both grids side by side, operator by operator, with the survey date for every figure.

How much does a standalone TV subscription cost in Belgium?

From 9.90 EUR to 32.90 EUR a month, depending on whether or not you accept a set-top box.

I have been surveying these grids every month since 2021, and the floor of the Belgian market has never been as low as it is today — provided you give up the box. Here are the TV formulas sold retail, prices surveyed on 30 July 2026 on the operators' public grids.

TéléSAT Basic (satellite)Yes6122.90 EUR
Orange TV PlusYes8032.00 EUR
TéléSAT Basic+ (satellite)Yes7532.90 EUR

There is a trap in that table, and it is written nowhere on the tariff pages: most of those lines cannot be bought on their own. In Belgium, only TéléSAT and BASE genuinely market a TV subscription without internet. With Orange, Proximus, Scarlet, TADAAM and Telenet, television is a bundle option: the 15.00 EUR or 18.00 EUR you read is the price of a building block, not the price of a bill.

What is the post-promotion price of a TV + internet bundle?

Between 55 and 80 EUR a month for a bundle with no options, and around 91 EUR for an entry-level trio.

That is the figure I hunt for first every month, because it is the figure on the thirteenth bill. Here are the benchmarks surveyed in August 2026 on the public tariff pages.

ProximusInternet Light alone39.99 EUR/month24/08/2026

Two remarks on those amounts. First: at Telenet, the combined ONE bundle no longer exists. The internet subscription is the base, every brick is added separately, and the fixed line — which used to be included — has become a paid item. The "Telenet trio at 53 EUR" you will still find on comparison sites describes an offer withdrawn from the catalogue.

Second: the VOO range is wide because the grid varies with the speed tier and the municipality of connection. I would rather state it as a dated range than as a single figure that would look tidier and be wrong for half the readers.

Nine euros ninety on one side, ninety-one euros on the other. Same market, same month. What changes is not the television: it is what gets stapled to it.

Is a bundle really cheaper than separate subscriptions?

Yes, by 2 EUR a month. That is all.

Here is the calculation, made on 24 August 2026 on public Proximus tariffs, post-promotion: Internet Go Fiber alone at 59.99 EUR, Pickx TV option at 18.00 EUR. Total when you add the bricks: 77.99 EUR. The equivalent Flex+ Internet Go + TV is listed at 75.99 EUR.

Two euros. Twenty-four euros over a year. That is the real value of the bundling discount, and it is a long way from the commercial story about how much a bundle saves you.

What a bundle really buys is not a discount: it is a single bill and one person to call when something breaks. When I was installing set-top boxes around Namur, half my complicated appointments involved customers who had internet with one operator and TV with another. Each blamed the other, and the customer waited three weeks. That may well be worth 2 EUR a month. But it is a service, not a saving.

The only line on the bill that counts is the thirteenth month, not the first.

Why is the advertised price never the one on the bill?

Because the headline price is promotional, and its duration is almost never printed beside it.

This is the point that gets me most. We all assume a telecom promotion runs for twelve months. That is no longer true. The Proximus promotion opened on 17 August 2026 and valid until 30 September 2026 covers three months: a discount on internet, on TV and on mobile, then a full return to the standard price from month four. A household comparing two offers on their headline price is therefore comparing one quarter with one operator against one year with the other.

Three other mechanisms widen the gap between the price you saw and the price you pay:

  • Annual indexation. In January 2026, Proximus, Orange, VOO, Telenet and edpnet raised their fixed bundles by 1 to 4 EUR a month. Telenet applied an adjustment of around 2 percent on average on 16 March 2026 to fixed lines, internet, digital TV, mobile and telephony.
  • Options that creep in. A sports package at 15-25 EUR, a recording extension at 3 EUR, a second box card: each one is small, the sum is not.
  • Activation and equipment charges, billed once, which appear in no monthly price.

A Belgian operator is perfectly entitled to change its prices mid-contract. What it owes you is notification, and the right to leave with no break fee if the change does not suit you. The BIPT — Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications, the sector regulator — regularly restates that rule on its consumer pages, and the Telecommunications Ombudsman Service handles disputes free of charge when an operator does not play fair.

How much does a TV subscription cost over three years?

Between 1,800 EUR and 3,276 EUR, and that is the only honest figure.

The legal commitment period in Belgium is capped at six months. But how long people actually keep a telecom bundle is measured in years, not months: the households I met kept their operator three, five, sometimes ten years. Comparing promotional monthly prices on a contract you keep for four years makes no sense. Here is the same market, restated over thirty-six months at the post-promotion price.

FormulaMonthly post-promotion priceCost over 36 months
VOO TV + internet (low end)≈ 50 EUR≈ 1,800 EUR
Scarlet Trio Sneller + Mobile 20 GB60.00 EUR≈ 2,160 EUR
VOO TV + internet (high end)≈ 65 EUR≈ 2,340 EUR
Telenet Internet Basic + TV Iconic≈ 71 EUR≈ 2,556 EUR
Proximus Flex+ Internet Go + TV75.99 EUR≈ 2,736 EUR
Proximus entry-level trio90.99 EUR≈ 3,276 EUR

Almost 1,500 EUR apart between the top and the bottom of that table, over three years, for a service whose daily use is more or less identical. That is not a difference in picture quality: it is a difference in how the offer is composed and where you are connected.

How do you pay less without changing operator?

By calling before the deadline, not after.

Three moves, in this order, and together they take an hour.

Count what you actually watch. Open your package's channel list, filtered on your postcode, and tick the ones you genuinely switched on this week. The total almost always lands between eight and fifteen. On a package of 80 or 115 channels, that changes the conversation: you are not paying for a catalogue, you are paying for a dozen channels and a recording function.

Note the contract anniversary date, in month eleven — or month three if your promotion runs for three. It is the only alarm that works, because the increase arrives with no dedicated letter, buried in a bill identical to all the others.

Call the retention team before the price step. A customer who calls beforehand gets an extension far more easily than one complaining three months later. If the negotiation fails, the law is on your side: past six months of commitment you leave with no penalty, and the only charges that survive concern unreturned equipment. Keep the set-top box carton and the delivery note.

One route few households explore: if you live in an area poorly served by cable, satellite TV is sold with no internet subscription at all, from 16.90 EUR a month with TéléSAT. And if your budget is tight, the FPS Economy — the federal public service for economic affairs — documents the social telecom tariff, which brings a basic internet subscription down to 19 EUR a month for eligible households.

For the full picture of all six Belgian operators, see the TV subscription ranking or go through the comparator. And if your decision comes down to two specific operators, the detailed head-to-heads exist: Proximus or VOO and Telenet or Proximus.

Frequently asked questions

From 9.90 EUR to 32.90 EUR a month depending on the formula. The floor is BASE App BASE TV at 9.90 EUR/month for 31 channels with no set-top box; with a box, BASE App + Box is 14.40 EUR and Telenet TV Iconic 15.00 EUR. One caveat: only TéléSAT and BASE genuinely sell TV without internet. Public grids surveyed on 30 July 2026.

Post-promotion, expect between 55 and 80 EUR a month for TV + internet with no options. Benchmarks surveyed in August 2026: around 71 EUR/month with Telenet (Internet Basic 56 EUR + TV Iconic 15 EUR), 75.99 EUR/month for a Flex+ Internet Go + TV with Proximus, 50 to 65 EUR/month with VOO. The entry-level Proximus trio is 90.99 EUR/month.

Because the headline price is a time-limited promotional price, and that duration is almost never printed beside it. The Proximus promotion opened on 17 August 2026 covers three months: from month four the full price applies. On top of that come the January annual indexation and the options added along the way.

A little, and far less than people assume. With Proximus, Internet Go Fiber alone is 59.99 EUR/month and the Pickx TV option 18.00 EUR, so 77.99 EUR added up. The equivalent Flex+ is 75.99 EUR. The bundling discount is worth 2 EUR a month — 24 EUR over a year, surveyed on 24 August 2026.

At the post-promotion price, Telenet TV + internet comes to around 2,556 EUR over thirty-six months, a Proximus Flex+ to around 2,736 EUR, a Proximus trio to around 3,276 EUR. That is the only figure that counts, because the legal commitment lasts only six months but most households stay three to five years.

Yes. In January 2026, Proximus, Orange, VOO, Telenet and edpnet raised their fixed bundles by 1 to 4 EUR a month. Telenet applied an adjustment of around 2 percent on average on 16 March 2026. An operator may change its price mid-contract, but it must notify you and let you cancel free of charge.

No. The television licence fee has been abolished in Wallonia and Brussels as well as in Flanders: no Belgian region collects it today. What you pay is your subscription with the operator, nothing else. If a letter demands a TV licence fee from you, check where it comes from before paying anything.
